Do you provide breastfeeding support & what is your basic theory of breastfeeding? |
I can help my clients get breastfeeding off to a good start. I am interested in helping partners to feel involved. I can screen for problems and refer as necessary.
Breast is (by FAR) best! But that doesn’t mean that breastfeeding is easy for everyone. I am there to encourage and support, and to help catch early and troubleshoot any problems that may arise. |
|
Do you typically provide postpartum support to your clients? |
As a birth doula, I will stay with the parent(s) immediately following the birth until they are settled. I provide one follow-up postpartum visit and can help address issues & concerns or make referrals then. I am a Certified Postpartum Doula (DONA), and in that role I can offer assistance with breastfeeding, recovery from childbirth, sibling & partner adjustment, emotional issues, and basic household assistance. |
|
If yes to the previous question; for how long & what do you feel are your strong points in this area? |
As a postpartum doula, I am an expert in normal adjustment during the postpartum period. My strengths are in helping families settle in and find their “groove,” whatever that may mean for a particular family—breastfeeding assistance, listening, household help, etc. I help screen for problems and make appropriate referrals as necessary. |
