Do you typically provide postpartum support to your clients?
I have some training & experience in postpartum doula work, but it is not my primary focus or certification area.  However, I do feel that providing postpartum support to clients is a valuable part of the services that a doula offers.
If yes to the previous question; for how long & what do you feel are your strong points in this area?
I typically like to assist moms in the following ways...
  • Screening moms for postpartum depression
  • Provide emotional support & general knowledge regarding the postpartum period.  I try to teach them that it's ok to ask for help & that they don't have to be "supermoms".

Final Words From Mandi
I am a proud mother to my own three miracles (Kaedyn 11, Madilyn 5.5, Korynne 4), and have a wonderful husband, Kevin, of 7 years.

I believe whole-heartedly that our bodies are made for the miracle of birth.  I am so passionate about meeting the needs of women with support, encouragement, and empowerment during the entire process, from conception to postpartum. When meeting with the expectant parents, I am very thorough in getting to know them and their preferences/goals for their birth, so we can all be on the same page.

With natural childbirth as the goal, I still feel it is very important for couples to be informed about their options, and possible outcomes outside of their "plan", as I experienced this personally with each of my own births.  I assure the parents that I am here to support them regardless of the outcome or circumstances, but will be there to keep them encouraged and relaxed, supporting them physically and emotionally in any way I can, and reminding them of their birth goals for their baby.

I completely adore pregnant women, the entire childbirth process, and knowing that I have helped families bring their baby into the world in a beautiful way!

Why I love Being a Doula:

All of my drawings as a little girl were of me being a "baby nurse", so I love to say I was born to be a doula!  The dream became a reality when I was able to be my sister's support person at the birth of my nephew.  Seeing the miracle outside of my own birth experiences, and seeing how I could help play a part in a baby's entry into the world in a beautiful, natural way is amazing and indescribable!
My first birth experience having my son was traumatic, greatly because I did not have anyone helping or guiding me, but the births of my two daughters were peaceful and beautiful ~ both situations inspire me to do what I do!
After every birth experience, I leave incredibly honored to have been invited to attend such a miraculous, intimate, and special even for these families. I always say to my husband, "I would do this every day if I knew I would get any sleep!"

Client Testimonials for Mandi
"Every mom, dad & baby need a doula... I can truly say there is ABSOLUTELY a difference with having such amazing support... the birth was an unbelievable experience, one that I would not have made it through so relaxed & focused if it were not for Mandi's calming presence & affirmations. Having a completely natural labor & delivery was so wonderful. The added benefits of the pregnancy & postpartum support only prove Mandi's dedication to the families she blesses with her assistance. YOU ARE THE BEST!!" ~Kristin C.

"Having Mandi as a doula made my birth experience go so much better. She was so calm and comforting from the beginning when we called to tell her we were going to the hospital, to the very end.  She was extremely helpful and supportive as all I wanted to do was hold my husband's hands the entire time.  She didn't push me in my decisions, but gently asked me what I wanted to do and reminded me of details in my birth plan.  I would highly recommend Mandi's services to anyone.  My husband and I are so glad she was a part of our daughter's birth."  ~Mindy K.

"We decided to hire Mandi because I knew she would be a great support in the birthing process and help me get through labor without medication.  My husband also wanted a more “hands-off” approach and would appreciate the “hands-on” physical and emotional support that Mandi could provide.  My husband was sick with H1N1 & not not permitted to go to the hospital. Mandi drove me there & kept me very calm on the way.  She helped me get comfortable, got me anything that I needed, explained things in a way I could understand without pressuring me one way or the other in my decisions, and her presence helped keep me calm and focused through my labor. Her voice was so soothing. She kept Eric updated on my progress, on speakerphone during Sam's birth, and immediately texted pictures to him, we both appreciated that so much!  Through postpartum complications which eventually sent me to the operating room, Mandi helped me change positions and rubbed my back to help alleviate the pain.  She held our new little boy and gave him love when I was physically unable. Even though it was very late, Mandi stayed with me until I left for surgery.  It was such a blessing that Mandi was at the birth of our baby boy.  It took a lot of stress off of Eric that he knew someone would take as good of care of me and Sam as he would while he was at home sick.  Without my husband there, I should have felt scared and alone, but I did not feel any of that at all.  Mandi kept me focused on the birth and the blessing waiting to be born.  If you are deciding to hire Mandi as your doula, I would strongly recommend it. " ~Misti M.

"I was fortunate enough to have Mandi as my long-distance doula. Throughout my pregnancy, Mandi listened & gave me excellent advice on what to expect & tips on how to have a peaceful, beautiful birthing experience (which I did!). Mandi is wonderful with babies, and even more wonderful with mommies. I would recommend her services to anyone looking for extra (and much needed!) support for their labor, delivery, and after the new addition comes home!" ~Jessica S.

"Mandi did everything we expected and more at the birth of our first child.  She did excellent lower back message during the most intense part of my labor--my husband tried, but his massage was to frantic for me at the time.   Her touch was soothing and calm.   Mandi was relaxed, and her hands were strong to apply the counter-pressure I needed.  I value the pictures of post labor that she took.  There are really nice photos of my baby and my husband and I.  Best wishes on your labor and delivery; it is only the beginning of an incredible journey." ~Maria P.

"From the moment my husband and I found out we were expecting, I knew I wanted Mandi to be our doula!  Mandi brought
wisdom, guidance, encouragement and support to us; for that we will always be grateful. We are extremely happy with our decision to have a doula; in our opinion, there would be no other choice but Mandi! We recommend her to any couple we know that is expecting their own little miracle." ~Becky B.

"Mandi shared her long-distance doula skills with me during my second pregnancy. I found myself full of questions and it was refreshing to have someone to turn to with questions big and small. Mandi was a calming and reassuring force throughout my labor and she made herself available early in the morning and late at night. I highly recommend Mandi's services, close up or long distance!" ~Jessie T.

"
Mandi's encouraging words & healing touch made the birth of my 3rd child go much smoother.  It was great having the emotional support along with my husband. She respected my space as well as helping where she could."  ~Audrey N.
